AN IBHS DISASTER DYNAMICS ACADEMY

When & Where:

July 21–22, 2026
Virtual: Streaming Online. Registration details coming soon.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this virtual Disaster Dynamics Academy, participants will be able to describe the Wildfire Prepared suite of programs, including Wildfire Prepared Home, Wildfire Prepared Multifamily, and Wildfire Prepared Neighborhood, and explain how insurers and agents can use these programs to support wildfire mitigation, resilience, and policyholder engagement.

Using IBHS research, real-world field observations, and practical examples, participants will examine the science behind wildfire resilience and identify mitigation measures shown to reduce property risk from embers, radiant heat, and direct flame contact.

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify defensible space practices, connective fuel concerns, and fire-resistant building components that can help reduce wildfire risk
  • Differentiate pathways to designation for new construction and retrofit projects
  • Explain how consumer behavior insights and incentives can support mitigation actions and program adoption
  • Locate resources that help identify designated properties and strengthen policyholder education around wildfire risk reduction

Participants will also gain an understanding of the application platform, evaluation process, annual review, and re-designation process so they can better follow the customer journey and recognize how the program supports long-term resilience efforts.

Who Should Attend:

While all IBHS Members are welcome, this training is primarily intended for agents, brokers, and underwriting professionals who work directly with policyholders and want to better understand wildfire resilience, mitigation, and the Wildfire Prepared customer journey. The event will also be valuable for Members involved in loss control, risk management, product development, and policyholder education.

Expected Outcomes:

After completing this training, participants will have a stronger understanding of how Wildfire Prepared translates wildfire science into action, how the designation process works, and what tools and resources are available to help more customers pursue meaningful wildfire risk reduction.
