What to Expect:
Join IBHS for a virtual Disaster Dynamics Academy: Discerning Drivers of Community-Scale Fire Spread. This event is designed to deepen your understanding of the factors contributing to the likelihood and severity of community-scale fire spread, known as conflagration.
During this event, you will:
- Understand our new probabilistic framework for predicting structure-to-structure ignitions.
- Learn early insights from field observations after the 2025 LA County Wildfires and examples of factors that lead to conflagration.
- Explore the Wildfire Prepared Neighborhood operational framework as a post-event assessment tool for diagnosing vulnerabilities to conflagration.
- Hear about recent code advancements and how they support community-wide wildfire mitigation.
Members will see a test on material combustibility and get an inside look at wind-driven building-to-building fire spread research featuring full-scale accessory dwelling units (ADU).
*Provide your questions via the chat window during the event and stay for a LIVE Q&A at the end of the broadcast.
