What to Expect:
The Los Angeles County fires are the latest conflagration events to show the need for wildfire mitigation at both the parcel and community levels. Nearly three years ago, IBHS launched Wildfire Prepared Home, the first parcel-level wildfire mitigation designation program. Later this spring, building on the latest wildfire research and insights from the broader fire protection community, IBHS’s first operational version of the Wildfire Prepared Neighborhood standard will be released.
Join us for Wildfire Prepared Neighborhood: Designing the Standard for Community Wildfire Resilience, an exclusive Members-only live virtual event.
This live event will provide:
- an in-depth look at the standard,
- discussion ofits role in meaningfully reducing the probability of conflagration by using an adaptive and performance-based approach, and
- highlights of the standard’s key elements using an example neighborhood to demonstrate its application in a post-wildfire setting, featuring early analysis from the Palisades Fire.
Joining host Rachael Gauthier will be IBHS Expert:
- Dr. Ian Giammanco, Managing Director of Standards & Data Analytics and Lead Research Meteorologist
