AN IBHS DISASTER DYNAMICS ACADEMY

When & Where:

December 9-10, 2025 (2 Days)

Day 1: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM ET

Day 2: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM ET

Virtual: Streaming Online. Please register for each day using the links respectively.

What to Expect:

Commercial PV installations, while a great alternative energy source, are vulnerable to hazards such as wind and hail. With the rapid growth in Commercial solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, the need to better understand their vulnerabilities and risks of failure, as well as the regional hazards, are vital to minimizing loss exposures to insurers.

Members attending this event will gain insight on:

  • Fundamentals of Commercial Solar PV installations and their design risk considerations
  • Regional hazard risk and exposure growth
  • IBHS wind and hail research conducted on PV systems
  • Characterizations of risk of failure vs. severity of failure
  • Publicly available data sources and considerations regarding risk modeling

Along with IBHS experts Ian Giammanco, PhD and Murray Morrison, PhD, this event will feature solar industry experts from:

  • CPP Wind Engineering Consultants
  • National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL)
  • Aon

Attendees will also receive a new resilience guide for roof-mounted solar and questions to ask in underwriting criteria to help insurers in policy considerations.

Who Should Attend:

While all Members are welcome, based on the content, we especially encourage Members who operate within underwriting, loss control, risk management and property claims departments to attend.
