Consumers deserve to have confidence that roofs designated as FORTIFIED live up to expectations. IBHS hail research shows that products marked as impact resistant do not always live up to expectations. As such, effective July 22, IBHS will be implementing the following changes:
FORTIFIED Home™
IBHS will no longer be accepting new applications for FORTIFIED Home–High Wind & Hail designations. All other FORTIFIED Home products remain unchanged (including FORTIFIED Home–Hurricane and FORTIFIED Home–High Wind). Current FORTIFIED Home–High Wind & Hail designations will remain valid.
FORTIFIED Commercial™
IBHS will no longer be accepting new applications for FORTIFIED Commercial–High Wind & Hail designations. The FORTIFIED Commercial program will combine the existing Hurricane and High Wind Standards into one Wind Standard. All current High Wind & Hail designations will remain valid.
