Day 2: 8:30 am – 12 pm
Where:

What to Expect:
Join IBHS for an engaging Disaster Dynamics Academy – The Nuts and Bolts of FORTIFIED Home: Understanding the Science Behind the Standard. This two-day event will examine:
- How the IBHS FORTIFIED Home™ Standard was developed.
- The specific building elements that are integral to FORTIFIED residential construction.
- How the program continues to foster more resilient communities every day.
Attendees will have the opportunity to construct their own FORTIFIED Roof™ panels, receive one-on-one insight into the inspection and evaluation process, and speak with experts on our FORTIFIED team. This educational event will also highlight the program benefits and tools available to our Members to maximize their investment in resilience.
Attendees will gain insight into the designation levels and learn how each element works to reduce and even prevent avoidable losses. FORTIFIED plays a key role in enhancing building codes to increase durability against high-wind, wind-driven rain, and hail. Members will also learn how continuing education and communication are vital to the adoption and expansion of the program into vulnerable communities.
Who Should Attend:
We encourage Members from operational and analytical roles who are or will be involved with products that have a FORTIFIED component to register.
Note: For individuals with disabilities or special dietary needs, we welcome you and will make every effort to accommodate you. Please let Sherry Melton know your specific needs in your request. All information shared is confidential.
What to Wear:
Casual attire. Footwear should be comfortable, have closed toes and tread, with no slick soles or heels.
Thoughts from Past Attendees
“This information was very helpful and is of value to my role in the claims organization. Info regarding the inaccuracy of observer data is a key callout as it is often foundational in deploying claim associates. I would recommend [DDA] to all Directors in our Underwriting, Product and Claim organizations.”
