Join us for an important conversation, Making Affordable Housing Climate Ready, on Thursday, March 31st from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. ET.
This virtual roundtable will feature a panel of affordable housing and resilience practitioners at the state, local, and federal levels, and a fireside chat with Pat Forbes, Executive Director of the Louisiana Office of Community Development, and Roy Wright, President & CEO of the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS).
Guided by the latest building science research, we’ve seen progress in the single-family and commercial sectors, building homes and commercial facilities to perform better against severe weather events, including high winds, hail, hurricanes, and tornadoes. Yet, there is a tremendous and immediate need to grow that footprint, while also bringing resilience to the millions of Americans living in multifamily housing.
Join us as developers, investors, and government officials in the affordable housing community discuss why resilience to severe weather must be a part of affordable housing, and the tools available for financing this important work.

Roy Wright
Roy Wright, President and CEO of the Insurance Institute for Building & Home Safety, is a leader in climate adaptation, building science, and disaster mitigation. A former FEMA official, Roy brings together stakeholders across industries and specialties to tackle some of the toughest disasters facing communities across the U.S. From wildfires to hurricanes, tornadoes to hailstorms, he oversees the research and risk-reduction efforts that are creating stronger, more resilient homes, businesses, and communities. Roy is a recognized resiliency shaper who has dedicated his career to breaking the cycle of human suffering that strikes families and communities in the wake of severe weather.
Pat Forbes
Pat Forbes is Executive Director of the Office of Community Development for Louisiana. Pat oversees Louisiana’s Community Development Block Grant program funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Forbes’ oversight includes housing, economic development, infrastructure and planning programs for recovery from hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav, Ike and Isaac, and the 2016 floods, as well as resilience planning activities and the Small Cities program.
