IBHS News Releases

IBHS Names Raucy COO
Contact: Kevin Barber
December 18, 2000

Tampa, FL — The Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) has named Doug Raucy, an insurance executive with 20 years of experience in the property/casualty field, to the position of chief operating officer.

Currently a senior manager with Allstate Corporation, Raucy replaces Paul Devlin, who recently joined Applied Insurance Research as vice president and general counsel in Boston, where IBHS was headquartered until its move last October to Tampa, FL.

In his new role, Raucy will be responsible for day-to-day management of IBHS. The group’s priorities in 2001 include building code issues and land-use planning, along with its “Fortified... for safer living” home construction program and paid loss database project.

A graduate of Utah State University, Raucy joined Allstate as a claim representative in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1980. He went on to hold field claim management positions in Allstate offices around the country. From 1995 to 1999, he built and led the company’s National Catastrophe Team and also created its National Catastrophe Center to centralize field claim operations. He is currently the senior manager of the Allstate/Home Depot Alliance.

“We are fortunate to have an individual with Doug’s credentials at IBHS,” said Harvey Ryland, president & CEO. “His project management and property claim experience, especially where it involved natural disasters, brings a new and valuable dimension to our organization.”
