Tampa, FL – As the 2001 Hurricane Season (June 1-November 30) gets underway, the Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) encourages residents in exposed areas to log on to its new web site www.disastersafety.org for critical hurricane safety information.

The new site includes:

Materials in both English and Spanish on how to make new and existing homes more resistant to hurricane damage; Information to help small business owners identify risk and put a disaster safety plan into action; Videos that show how to “Glue Your Roof Down” and explain the IBHS “Fortified… for safer living” new home construction program; Helpful background on the 2001 hurricane season, including predictions, storm names, and hurricane activity through links to other important natural disaster safety sites.

Single copies of the hurricane safety publications found on www.disastersafety.org are also available free by calling IBHS at 1-866-657-IBHS (4247), or visiting its web site at www.ibhs.org.

IBHS is a national non-profit initiative of the insurance industry based in Tampa, Florida. The mission of the research and communications organization is to reduce deaths, injuries, property damage, economic losses, and human suffering caused by natural disasters.
