Tampa - Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) Vice President and Director of Business Protection Diana McClure will participate in two sessions at the National Hurricane Conference to promote commercial and residential disaster planning.

“Business Continuity Planning: Developing a Small Business Disaster Recovery Plan” (E3 Workshop) will be held Thursday, April 5 from 1:30 p.m.–3 p.m. in Elmwood on the 3rd level of the Hilton Riverside Hotel in New Orleans.

Ms. McClure will explain why planning is critical and outline the components of a well-executed plan.  This information is equally important for government agencies and nonprofit organizations that must remain viable to meet the needs of citizens and help the community recover.

“Insurance Issues: A Panel on Catastrophe Loss Mitigation Planning and Programs” is part of the closing general session Friday, April 6 at 9:00 a.m. in the Grand Ballroom.  Bill Bailey, managing director of the Hurricane Insurance Information Center, will moderate the panel, which includes Ms. McClure, as well as David Maurstad, Federal Insurance Administrator and Mitigation Director, FEMA, and Mississippi Insurance Commissioner George Dale.

The Institute for Business & Home Safety, a national nonprofit initiative of the insurance industry, works to reduce the social and economic effects of natural disasters and other property losses by conducting research and advocating improved construction, maintenance and preparation practices.
