Tampa - Once water gets inside a home – whether from a violent storm, a leaky pipe or poor drainage – cleaning it up properly can minimize the extent of damage and cost of repairs.

To help homeowners have the upper hand with water problems, the Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) created a new online Water Damage Recovery Guide.

The guide explores a number of scenarios, including what to do following sudden catastrophic water related events.  It offers step-by-step instructions for recovery, as well as a series of “smart tips” to help homeowners establish good home maintenance routines to keep even minor problems at bay.

IBHS is a national nonprofit initiative of the insurance industry to reduce deaths, injuries, property damage, economic losses and human suffering caused by natural disasters.
