Hurricane Research Presentation Scheduled; Home Builders Release Model Contract

CONFERENCE TO INCLUDE HURRICANE CHARLEY RESEARCH PRESENTATION, EXECUTIVE PANELS

In the aftermath of Hurricane Charley, a number of Florida newspapers remarked how the storm left behind a laboratory for researchers, including IBHS engineers and building code experts. Be among the first to learn what they're finding at the IBHS Annual Conference in Orlando, FL, on November 4 and 5.

The conference will also feature a property-casualty insurance executive panel, moderated by Brian Sullivan, editor and publisher of the Property Insurance Report, which will discuss property loss reduction trends. A reinsurance executive panel on the same topic, moderated by Frank Nutter, president of the Reinsurance Association of America, will follow.

FLORIDA HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION RELEASES EMERGENCY REBUILDING MODEL CONTRACT

As a service to homeowners who have lost all or a portion of their homes as a result of Hurricane Charley, the Florida Home Builders Association (FHBA) has released a Residential Rebuilding Model Contract to aid consumers in their quest to rebuild their homes. The Residential Rebuilding Model Contract is specifically designed to protect citizens from unscrupulous contractors.

You can also view news about Governor Jeb Bush's executive order that loosened state license requirements for building contractors, making it easier for homeowners to find workers to repair roofs damaged by Hurricane Charley.
