Burton Joins IBHS as Building Code Manager

Tampa – Jeff Burton today joined the Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) as its building code manager.

Burton was previously planning manager in the Department of Developmental Services for the City of Bradenton, FL, where he was involved in building code enforcement, and was a building inspector with the city before that.

Prior to his work in Bradenton, Burton was a contractor in Palmetto, FL, where he designed and built commercial and residential structures. He also served in elected office for the City of Palmetto. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Public Administration-Urban Management and Planning at the University of South Florida, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics.

In his new position, Jeff will coordinate IBHS’ engineering, outreach and communication activities in the building code field.

IBHS is a national nonprofit initiative of the insurance industry to reduce deaths, injuries, property damage, economic losses and human suffering caused by natural disasters.
