Tampa – The Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) has tips to help residents recover from tornado damage and flooding caused by recent storms in the Midwest.

You Can Go Home Again - Returning Home After a Natural Disaster" is a brochure to help homeowners work with their insurance company representatives.  Also included is a list of questions people frequently ask after a major loss.  Having the list during the first contact with the insurer will help expedite the process and avoid multiple follow-up calls.

Getting Back To Business - A Guide to the Small Business Owner Following Disaster" includes steps business owners should take to start the recovery process. The brochure includes information on reporting losses, cleaning up, questions for the insurer, evaluating business interruption and returning to business.

These brochures are in the Publications section of this web site.  Free single copies of any IBHS publication can be requested online, or by calling toll free (866) 657-IBHS (4247).

Additional information is available to help prevent further losses during cleanup, for guidance to rebuild homes and businesses with a better level of protection against disaster, and to help businesses develop pre- and post-disaster plans.
