Tampa - The Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) has named Dr. Timothy A. Reinhold vice president of engineering, a new position.

Dr. Reinhold, who has been a professor of civil engineering at Clemson University since 1992, earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in Engineering Mechanics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University. He has been a registered Professional Engineer since 1983.

Over the past decade, Dr. Reinhold’s work has been published in numerous professional and academic journals.  He has also been a consultant for engineering firms worldwide, and served on many professional boards and advisory committees.

“Dr. Reinhold’s wide-ranging engineering experience and professional background makes him highly qualified to address the broad scope of natural hazards we deal with in our disaster safety efforts from coast to coast,” said IBHS President and CEO Harvey Ryland.

In addition to overseeing the IBHS engineering department, Dr. Reinhold will provide technical direction on the group’s building code initiatives, its “Fortified…for safer living” new home construction designation program, and the Property Loss Database, a new IBHS program established to identify and analyze emerging property claim trends.
