Tampa – The Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) is one of the sponsors of a state-of-the-art demonstration home that will show how technology can improve safety, affordability and quality in residential construction.

The NextGen04 Demonstration Home will be built on the grounds of the Las Vegas Convention Center and showcased during the International Builders’ Show in January 2004.  The home will use the latest in energy efficient design, building materials and advanced construction practices combined with the power of smart-home connectivity.

IBHS is sponsoring the “Stronger/Safer” category in line with its mission to protect homes and families from natural disasters.  The NextGen04 home will be built with upgraded roof-to-wall and wall-to-foundation connections that can help it withstand up to 110 m.p.h. peak wind gusts.  It will also have windows and doors with higher design pressure ratings, and enhanced roofing materials that withstand high wind, hail impact and fire.

The project is a joint effort among iShow, a communications firm serving the residential construction industry; the Partnership for Advancing Technology in Housing (PATH), and Design Basics Publishing.  All-American Homes of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, will manufacture the home.  For more information on the NextGen04 Demonstration Home click here.

The Institute for Business & Home Safety is a national nonprofit initiative of the insurance industry to reduce deaths, injuries, property damage, economic losses and human suffering caused by natural disasters.
